Hi room3 felix here I am safely in devon in England I arived 11 days ago I started in northamphton with my grandads we stayed there for about a week then moved to Ilfred to see
my dads mum we stayed for a night then came all the way to devon where we will be staying for three weeks which means we wil be staying for x-mas I will update when we move to some where else.

WAL: about the signs and symbols of Advent and Christmas.

We are learning about the signs and smbols of Advent and Christmas. At the moment, we are particularly learning about the Jesse Tree, its symbols and the bible stories behind these.

Some people use a Jesse Tree as part of thier preparation for Christmas during Advent. We made our own class Jesse Tree by drawing round our hands on green paper, cutting them out and arranging them as a tree. We are adding a symbol (made for us by Juliette) each day as we listen to the related story during prayer time. Each story relates to part of Jesus' family tree.

We have also reflected on how we prepare ourselves spiritually for the coming of Jesus. We drew a symbol for this, with the reflection written on the back. To remind us that this of these ways we prepare for Christmas during Advent, we have placed them round our Jesse Tree.

Thank you for giving us a loving and caring saint, Saint Vincent De Paul. He had made people change their ways because he changed his ways to help the poor by building, giving food and water to the poor. Please help everyone to follow his ways. He has helped me because i now want to give more to the poor as he did.

Our current RE strand is the Communion of Saints and we have been looking at Saints and Inspiring people. We now understand that the Communion of Saints is the way Catholics describe the bond of friendship between all those who have been baptised -whether they are living or dead. People who we call saints are those who have been officially recognised by the Church,

Describing

This painting is of an ordinary can of Campbell's Condensed Tomato Soup. Only five colours have been used red, black, grey, white and gold. This is a line drawing.

Analysing

This art work expresses a neutral mood because it is just a simple painting of soup and the only colours used are those of the soup can. The artist has also used line as it is seen in real life, he has not tried to display emotion. I think the artist has painted this because he likes tomato soup, it is popular and it was an object that he had access to.

Interpreting

I think the artist was trying to show that everyday objects can be interest and can be "Art".

Evaluating

I am confused by this piece of artwork because it is just a can - Craig.

I think this piece of arwork is good because it is simple and everyone knows it is about tomato soup - Sumak.

I think it is good because everyone knows about tomato soup - Juliette.

Free Verse
One thing that is special about a free verse poem is that the poem can be as long or as short as you want and as detailed as you want. You can write about anything and write with freedom.

Haiku
One thing that is special about a Haiku poem that comes from Japan.
Haiku poems usally tell about Nature and Seasons.
A Haiku has three lines the first line is made with 5 syllables, the second lines is made with 7 syllables and the last lines is again made up of 5 syllables, and it doesn't have to rhyme.
For Example:
Tigers black and white
All our Tigers fight to night
Today and tonight

Limerick
Limericks are funny poems that have fine lines that rhyme the 1st, 2nd ,5th line ryhme while the 3rd and 4th line ryhme with each other.
For Example:

There is nothing that is so funny
As having the giggles in your tummy
It can be so fun
With laughs by the ton
Except if your tummy is too full of yummy!

"Paint Bottles" by Craig (2000 - )

Painted 2010

Inspired by four paint bottles, the artist used primary and secondary colours for effect and it is a line drawing. The picture depicts images associated with art materials.

This was the artist's first published artwork.

We have just had our second session with Dean McKerras. We are learning about dance performance skills, to enable us to produce a high standard dance performance at the end of term. We are currently choreographing our own dance based on the circus, with a little guidance from Dean.

This week we have been learning about The Rosary. Today we have explored the different Mysteries of the Rosary. The Mysteries of the Rosary are stories from the bible. When St Dominic taught people how to pray The Rosary he wanted people to know and love God, through prayer and the bible stories.

We are currently being tuned in to our new inquiry question, "How does art express modern culture?" We have dived into some hands-on activites to get us thinking about what our inquiry is going to be about. We had to draw a partner, but we were only allowed to use red, blue, green and yellow to paint it. That's why some of us have green hair! We also used a glue gun to make a piece of artwork using can. Hopefully these activites will really get us wondering about our inqury question.

Next week we are lucky enough to have Rei Hendry, an artist, come to work with us. We are really looking forward to this.

Room 3 were very busy this week! Not only were we preparing for the Senior Assembly that we held last Friday, we have been preparing for Student Led Celebrations. Well done to Mitchell, Miriam, Connor, Jocie and Adam E, who all read beautifully in our assembly, as well as the other Top Talented Terrific Threes who sang enthusiastically. You were all participating and contributing - well done!

THE HYDROSPHERE

In Earth the Hydrosphere could include deep glaciers, oceans and clouds. Water
moves through Earth.

What is water?

Did anyone say water is H2o? It means that water molecules are made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. Water is in the air, land rocks and in all living things.

What does water do?

Do you know what water does? Water on Earth remains relatively the same where changes moment to moment. Water is constantly in motion. This is called the hydrologic cycle.

Why is water so important?

Water is important because it’s the way we survive. Clean drinking water is essential to human and other life forms because our human body is made up of 50% to 70% of water. If we don’t have water, we would die in 3 to 5 days. Without water, all living things would die.

Why is there water here on Earth?

Why is water here on Earth? Well, liquid water makes Earth a special place. If we were a colder place like Pluto, Earth would be frozen. Water vapour and solid ice would be useless to the living organisms on Earth.

THE ATMOSPHERE

You need food. Water, and the sun to survive, but the most important thing you need is a layer of gases that surrounds the earth. That is called the Atmosphere.

The Atmosphere contains carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, and many particles, like water and dust. All these ingredients are important because together, they are worth all of our lives.

With special molecules like ozone, the dangerous radiation gets filtered out. The gases are the main ingredient that protects earth from the vacuum and radiation in space.

The climate is a circulation of particles and gases. There are many climates across the world. One type of climate is based over the Pacific Ocean and another by the North Pole. The higher you go up a mountain, the more the temperature drops. Since the earth is always rotating, the temperature will never be too hot or too cold in the same place.

If there was no Atmosphere we would all be lifeless and dead. The sun gives off solar winds, which are streams of radiation. It is the density of our Atmosphere that keeps us alive. So we are all very lucky that the Atmosphere is here to protect us, because we would be lifeless if it were not protecting earth.

Last week the Top Talented Terrific Threes had a visitor from the Heart Foundation come and talk to us about healthy food and how important it is for our bodies and well being. We had to catorgorise sugar and fat into different food groups and were amazed at how much fat and sugar were in some foods!
